The dads with daughters in the Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club felt the loss of Kobe and Gianna Bryant...

#girldad

Such a simple hashtag, but laden with meaning. The dads with daughters in the Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club felt the loss of Kobe and Gianna Bryant along with the rest of the passengers that fateful day and couldn’t shake the sadness. Lonny Meewes, Senior Vice President of Marketing at CLRe, came up with a plan to commemorate the loss and give back to his community. Lonny had t-shirts made for CJV with #girldad on the front - everyone knew how much it meant for all the dads. The proceeds of the 125 shirts sold were provided to the Alliance Center for Education to benefit needy families.

Canada Life Re proudly matched the money raised.

AC4E serves children in the Charlotte NC area with family enrichment services and 12 educational centers, serving over 800 children each day. AC4Ed provides a dynamic continuum of services to support the transition from their pre-Kindergarten learning experiences into their K-12 school years. These Out of School Time (OST) programs are available both during the academic year and summertime.

A recent study found that students who participate in quality afterschool and expanded learning programs attend class more regularly, achieve higher grades, and report fewer incidents of juvenile crime and other high-risk behaviors, compared to students who were routinely unsupervised during afterschool hours. Data indicates that over the past five years 100% of OST students have graduated from high school on time.
